The Nottingham Industrial Heritage Association

Our meetings are held at 19:45 in Nottingham Central Library, Angel Row, Nottingham, unless stated otherwise. Click here for a location map. This is convenient for the Tram, Trent buses and NCT buses. Car parking is also possible in the vicinity.

    Stephen Gay; "Scenic Britain by Train". Over recent years, Stephen Gay, invariably accompanied by his canine friend “Wrawby”, has travelled the length and breadth of Britain photographing such celebrated railway routes as the Settle & Carlisle, the West Highland line and the West of England mainline. In this talk he will tell the story of his journeys, the history of the routes travelled and points of interest along the way.

    The Life of Robert Blincoe who was sold as an orphan at the age of seven to work in Gonalston Mill will be the subject of this talk by local historian Peter Hammond. See poster for more details.

    “ST PANCRAS STATION” A talk by Nigel Lowey for everyone interested in history, architecture or great engineering. St Pancras Station has close links with this area, being built of Nottingham brick, Butterley iron-work and Ancaster stone, as well as being “our” station in London. Nigel Lowey, a historian of the building, will describe how the Victorian Gothic railway cathedral came to be built, and how it has undergone a breathtaking transformation for the 21st century.
